WTF-video of the week: March 2nd, 2010
Another only WTF-video, for now. Now, I don’t know much about Southern Indian cultures (I did have some dosa the other day, and my indo-persian/northern bias was evident to the group, with whom I was eating with), and my propagation of The Benny Lava video didn’t help to change the perception, that I know the finer details about these cultures (Note: Now, I adore Prabhudeva). I’m making amends, and will go all Rajnikanth-crazy about Endhiran.
However, this guy clearly is clearly exploiting it. Now, I can see a whole bunch of Punjabi movies/mujrahs without feeling a single moment of disgust. However, I felt queasy after seeing this. I don’t know why (perhaps its 4am), but it feels so wrong. Perhaps, I’m missing the point. Perhaps, I’m going to edit this post later on.
However, here it is… Wilbur Sargunaraj’s “Lo-vvvve Marriage”
An excerpt from his website
Dance King, Performer, Drummer and Tamilian, Wilbur Sargunaraj is one of the most original musicians to grace the industry. His super hit song “Blog Song” is just one of the killer dance tunes that is having people across the globe begging for more music.Wilbur has created his own fresh and original style called Vocal Chanting which combines elements of his native India with super killer techno dance beats and bass that is super deep. If you like something fresh in the music industry- this is it!! Guaranteed!
He also has this promotional video on the site, which doesn’t help allay my concerns that this is actually a mockery of a culture.
There is a chance it is a viral campaign, and one shouldn’t be shocked if it is. If they can do that Metro PCS ad in superbowl, then this can happen as well. On the other hand, if it is an individual effort and/or this guy is real, then…. kudos, i guess.
Bus, don’t blame Apu.
